Busch Takes Haas Automation to Victory Lane at Martinsville
On Sunday, March 30, Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kurt Busch fought a thrilling race to take the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet SS to the Winner’s Circle in the STP 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville, Virginia. This was Busch’s first win since joining SHR this year, and the first Cup Series victory for his primary sponsor, Haas Automation.
Busch managed to snag the number 1 spot in the yellow-flag-plagued race, despite a three-way crash on Pit Road during an early competition caution that left his left side panel severely damaged. After the incident, Busch radioed to his crew that they were probably done for the day. But some hard racing and excellent pit strategy propelled Busch to the number 3 spot. Another restart after a caution allowed him to battle Jimmy Johnson for the lead in the final laps, and hold the number 1 spot all the way to the checkered flag.
