Haas Automation is the largest machine tool builder in the western world, manufacturing a complete line of CNC (Computer Numeric Control) vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, CNC lathes and rotary products. The company also builds a variety of specialty machines, including 5-axis machining centers, mold making machining centers, toolroom machines, and gantry routers. Haas machine tools and rotary products are built to the exacting specifications of Gene Haas to deliver higher accuracy, repeatability, and durability than any other machine tools on the market.
Founded by Gene Haas in 1983, Haas Automation has always produced top-quality products at affordable prices. By relying on volume sales rather than per-unit profits to build the company, Haas Automation delivers more standard features, high-tech innovations, and rock-solid engineering than perhaps any other CNC manufacturer in the world – and at better prices.
Starting in 1988 with the VF-1, Haas Automation has sold more than 175,000 CNC machines to date. Haas Automation delivers more standard features, high-tech innovations, and solid engineering than any other machine tool manufacturer.
CNC Verticals: Every Haas vertical machining center provides the features and performance you need, making it the best investment you’ve ever considered – providing more utility, flexibility, and productivity than you’ve ever imagined.

Haas Automation supplies teams from around the world competing in the highest level of motorsports. On any given weekend, thousands of parts machined on Haas CNCs make a difference in Formula One, NASCAR, NHRA, and other top racing organizations.
Haas Automation is the Official Machine Tool of the first American led Formula One team in 30 years, Haas F1 Team, and two time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champions Stewart-Haas Racing. In addition, Haas Automation supplies CNC machines to Scuderia Ferrari and many other elite teams worldwide.
Gene Haas founded Haas Automation in 1983 and in the span of 30 years turned it into the largest machine tool builder in North America with $1 billion in annual sales. Now, the successful industrialist has turned his attention to the FIA Formula One World Championship, where for the first time in 30 years, an American team competes in Formula One – Haas F1 Team.
Haas is no stranger to hard work, nor is he a stranger to motorsports. The hands-on approach that makes Haas Automation products available through a worldwide network of more than 170 Haas Factory Outlets in more than 80 countries while providing the industry’s best support and service is the same approach Haas has brought to his motorsports interests.
His NASCAR team, Stewart-Haas Racing, has won two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships (2011 and 2014) and earned more than 30 point-paying victories since 2009. From its state-of-the-art, 140,000-square-foot (13,000 square-meter) facility in Kannapolis, North Carolina, Stewart-Haas Racing is a championship contender again in 2016.
In 2007, Haas built Windshear, one of the most advanced automotive wind tunnels in the world. The facility’s centerpiece is a rolling road, which allows a car to be restrained in place directly on top of a massive, treadmill-like stainless steel belt rotating at speeds up to 180 mph (290 kph). The rolling road accurately simulates the dynamics of a car on the racetrack, unlike traditional fixed-floor tunnels.
It is the first of its kind in North America and only the third rolling-road wind tunnel of its scale in existence. Windshear is available for hire to all motorsports teams and auto manufacturers. NASCAR, INDYCAR, sports car and NHRA teams utilize Windshear, as does the United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR), which has conducted tests on production cars at Windshear.
The foundation for these endeavors is Haas Automation.
Haas Automation operates out of a 1-million-square-foot (93,000 square-meter) facility in Oxnard, California. It is one of the largest, most modern machine tool manufacturing operations in the United States, and it is home to Haas Automation’s four major product lines: vertical machine centers (VMCs), horizontal machine centers (HMCs), computer numeric control (CNC) lathes and rotary tables.
Growing Haas Automation’s business beyond North America is the catalyst for Haas F1 Team.
“Haas F1 Team automatically conveys our place among the pinnacle of motorsports,” Haas said. “When you hear ‘F1’ you know exactly what it is – a global racing series that showcases the latest technology and attracts the best talent in engineering and design. Haas Automation has an excellent reputation in the United States and I want that reputation to grow worldwide. Connecting Haas Automation with F1 in name and in practice is the best way to grow our business and elevate Haas Automation to a premium, global brand.”
